Kenzie + Justin ❤️

One of the sweetest, intimate weddings I have had this year. Every time I look back through this gallery, I think of how sweet and fun this day was.

A total God moment for sure! For a late winter/early spring wedding, it ended up being a surprisingly warm and sunny day! It was PERFECT!

I’m really loving my new hand-painted mat from @chasingstone for this year’s groom details! 🤩🖤 Groom details are often overlooked and honestly it’s because they just don’t have a lot to capture compared to the bride. But I decided early on this winter that I wanted to step it up a bit for the groom’s side of things in order to make the final gallery delivery more complete.

So fellas - let this be your warning 😆 You won’t regret the end results! I promise!

This past Saturday I had the honor of capturing Sarah + Logan at the historic Allerton Mansion. Snow was still lingering on the grounds, but the house was filled with warmth, love, and classical elegance spilling out of every room.

It was the perfect way to start the season and to feel inspired by such beauty and grace. Their love for one another and their closest friends and family was so evident. And the joy of the Lord covered them. ❤️

Thank you for the gift of sharing your day with Rob and I! Cheers to many, many years of loving one another! Love you both!

In two weeks, my team will be documenting our first wedding of the year and we can’t wait!

Sarah + Logan have THE sweetest story and we had so much fun together at their winter engagement session. I am so excited to be documenting them inside the historic Allerton Mansion.

Praying for good weather and the opportunity to sneak outside for portraits! Here in Illinois, we kinda just roll with it! 🤣

Let’s talk Flat Lays!

It’s a fancy term we wedding photographers use when we refer to how we style and capture your wedding day details! It is ART in and of itself! Here’s why:

If we don’t have supplies of our own to design the Flat Lay, we will use whatever resources are available within easy reach: good light, a neutral or pretty surface that we can lay everything on, perhaps a piece of furniture or tray that’s laying close by, use of natural materials such as leftover florals, pieces of wood, natural grasses, rocks, etc., the floor if it’s pretty and not dirty, tree stumps! 🤣 Literally! We use whatever we can! I once used a white pillow case in my early days of starting out!

Those of us who have been at it a hot minute will invest in Flat Lay design kits: custom linen or hand-painted mats, custom pieces of ribbon (I actually order custom dyed ribbon all the way from Ukraine) of varying lengths and widths, custom colored ring boxes of varying sizes and shapes, custom jewelry trays, accents that add color or texture to the design setup, florals, and anything else that we feel will really make your details stand out in your gallery and albums! This is a huge investment and we take it seriously!! Ask my brides and they’ll tell you I ask for a minimum of 1 hour just to capture your details, dress, shoes, bridesmaid gowns, and anything else that tells your story. It’s my favorite start to the whole day and I LOVE IT!!!😍 I get to create and do something incredibly special that is just for you!

The design setup can be as simple as one single Flat Lay or multiple setups depending on how many details you have! This post is multiple designs from the same wedding because my bride had many stunning details to capture and they all played a part in telling the whole story. Aren’t they gorgeous?!!

Starting 2026 wedding season officially on February 7th at Allerton Mansion and I’m so excited! Celebrating everything that God has done in 2025 is about to start blowing up on my socials. 🙌🏻🥹

I’m starting with the most magical end to the most perfect wedding day for Amanda + Kenny! I cannot wait to finally share all of this magic! The florals, the venue, the staff, the calligraphy, linens, the dresses, the FOOD 🤩, the elegant custom details of the day! Gosh!

Did I mention the food? Haha! 😆 Literally @pear_tree_estate has THE BEST food!!!! And their staff is unmatched!

So sit back. And enjoy!

The magic is coming!

I recognize my absence from social media. It’s not because I don’t value its ability to grow my reach and business, but I just simply value my spare moments that I can squeeze into busy season and fill them with family time or SLEEP!

I have SO MANY sessions and more weddings to post and I will get there… I promise. But for right now, trust me when I say that working 60+ hours a week between two jobs is all-consuming. I originally took my weekly job in order to be able to dial back and be more present with my family. And then - the economy! 😩😩 We need my two jobs!!

So, I suppose in spite of being right back to where I was a year ago, I am feeling incredibly grateful for the work! It means I can feed my family, drive the car, keep the heat on, etc. etc. One day I will look back and barely recall the physical demands it placed on me. Instead, I will see it through a lens of joy and immense gratitude.

God is GOOD! He is all-knowing and all-providing!

Here’s your sign 💕 Don’t skip golden hour!
Mindy and Andrew shined - quite literally! Pear Tree Estate has some of the prettiest light at the end of the day thanks to the perfect west-facing placement outside of the venue. It’s so easy to take a quick step outside and that golden light is ready and waiting.

Contemplating golden hour portraits?

They are perfect for fitting in that space between your dinner and waiting for first dances! Your guests will be busy eating and mingling at their tables, while the two of you can skip it outside for 10-15 minutes and have some “you” time. It’s the perfect way to decompress and celebrate privately! 🥂

Some sessions just completely fill your cup! 💫 I had the most fun capturing my colleague from work and her beautiful family!!! This sunset session was pure magic and had me reminiscing when my kiddos were this little. 🥹 When in doubt, get the photos! These moments fly by way too fast.

I had the privilege of traveling to Chicago to document this incredibly special lifestyle newborn session for Alexis + Joey 💕

Three years ago I was capturing their wedding and I felt that some day we would have a full-circle moment. Adelaide Jean Samuels was born on June 25th - the anniversary of their engagement day! 🫶🏻

This session was indeed one of my most favorite moments in my career as a photographer. Sweet Adelaide!! You are completely adorable and I can’t wait to watch you grow! 🥹

So many photos from this magical day that deserve to be stand-alone portraits. We’ll start with this gorgeous one of Mindy! 🫶🏻🤩 When I am looking for ways to uniquely capture my brides, I’m always looking at the composition, the way the light hits her, the way the hair falls, the softened edges captured using surrounding materials. It’s ALL very intentional! Nailing these things along with the right settings in-camera will produce stunning photography. Take the time. Get the shot. 💕
